Position Overview

Position Summary:The college of Liberal Arts and Sciences is seeking a qualified candidate to teach as a full-time tenure track Assistant Professor of Spanish. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Start date is August 2024. This is a residential appointment, and campus presence is expected.

Requirements

Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include 4/4 teaching load, scholarship, and service. Teaching load will include 1000- and 2000-level foundational Spanish courses in addition to a variety of upper-division courses. Courses may be offered in-person, hybrid, or online. The candidate is expected to serve the institution and remain active in the profession. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Requirements:

• Ph.D in Spanish required (ABD considered).
• Ideal candidates will have a strong generalist academic background and expertise in, but not limited to, one or more of the following fields: Peninsular literature, translation/interpretation, and/or Peninsular culture and civilization. Latin American literature, linguistics, or second language acquisition is a plus.
• Experience in online and/or hybrid settings.
