Job Description:
Job Summary: The Control Room Operator is responsible for
monitoring the status of all Power Plant systems, on a continuous
basis. The Control Room Operator ensures that alarms and upset
conditions are properly cleared by taking appropriate corrective
actions. Executes Plant shutdown and start-up procedures, as
required. The Control Room Operator will also support in
maintenance of the facility, as assigned by the Plant Manager and
Operations Manager. The Control Room Operator ensures that the
Power Plant meets its generating requirements, while operating in a
safe and efficient manner. Â Key Responsibilities: Health and
safety  Coach and mentor facility employee through engagement on
proper safety behaviors, use of the Management System and its
respective expectations and through on-going participation of in
Health & Safety activities i.e., inspection, incident investigation
and visible felt leadership. Verify job tasks are adequately
reviewed prior to initiating work and when changes occur in the
work environment or tasks requirements. Ensure all Incidents and
potential adverse events (i.e., Near Misses) are quickly
communicated to Plant leadership and Health & Safety site/regional
support. Â Main Duties Support fellow work partners to help ensure
job tasks are adequately reviewed prior to initiating work and when
changes occur in the work environment or tasks requirements.
Communicate any unsafe work condition or hazard to your Health &
Safety Manager or Operational leader immediately. Report any Health
& Safety incident, realized or potential to your Health & Safety
Manager or Operational leader immediately. Participate in Health &
Safety activities as requested i.e., Incident investigations,
inspections, effectiveness reviews and best practice sharing.
Ensure the daily log, electrical output, steam output, emissions
output, fuel consumed, water consumed, and heat rates are completed
in a timely and accurate manner. Conduct periodic log and record
reviews, to ensure that tag-out procedures, equipment status, and
designated administrative systems are functioning effectively.
Participate in the administrative maintenance of Plant operating
manuals, technical references, prints and diagrams, and
preventive/predictive maintenance records. Actively supports the
Maintenance team in the execution of maintenance plans by providing
lock-out/tag-out support, equipment identification,
troubleshooting, work request preparation, electrical and
mechanical maintenance, or other areas as needed. Fully support and
actively participate in CG Safety and Regulatory Compliance
Programs. Complete other tasks, as requested by the Line Manager. Â
Continuous improvement Effectively use the organizational framework
to capture, implement, and reward improvement initiatives.
Encourage the team members to identify and initiate improvements
and innovations that will enhance the maintenance department's
safety and reliability, work productivity, cost reduction, and
quality of client service. Â WORKING RELATIONSHIPS The Control Room
Operator reports to the Operations Manager. Â Commit to Lead with

Skills: Ability to understand procedures and instructions specific
to the area of assignment, as would be acquired in four (4) years
of high school, is required. An Associate Degree, in a technical
field, is desirable. Experience as a Control Room Operator or
equivalent position, in an operating or generating Plant, is
required. Experience in water chemistry control, water condition
analysis, water treatment facility operations, and
chemical-handling requirements is desired. Theoretical and
practical knowledge of combustion/steam turbine operations,
closed-system generation, industrial safety, hazardous waste
management, and inspection/recording of Plant parameters, is highly
desirable. Demonstrated experience in the direct operation of a
combined-cycle-large-frame gas turbine Power Plant preferred.
Experience with piping and instrument schematics, and process
controls, desirable. Extensive working knowledge of Power Plant
industry desirable. Must have excellent verbal and writing
communication skills. Physical requirements include standing on
feet for extended periods, requiring stair and ladder climbing and
routinely lifting fifty (50) pounds. This position requires working
twelve (12)-hour rotating shifts, with the possibility of overtime,
weekend, and holiday work; as required by schedules, workloads, and
