Job Title: RN Profession: Nursing Specialty: FBC/L&D Duration: 14 weeks Shift: Night shift Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Two (2) years current experience required License: State Nursing License or Compact State Nursing License Certifications: BLS, NRP, AWHONN Intermediate or Advanced Fetal Monitoring Certification required Must-Have: - Associates Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) required - BLS certification must be completed through the American Heart Association, American Health and Safety, or American Red Cross Description: Floating between departments and local locations within 20 miles is required. Assess all triage patients over 20 weeks. Use obstetric triage acuity tools. Conduct labor assessment and evaluation. Perform fetal evaluation and assessment. Evaluate for labor at term, signs and symptoms of preterm labor, signs and symptoms of preeclampsia, rupture of membranes, decreased fetal movement, preterm premature rupture of membranes, vaginal bleeding, and acute or critical conditions. If an emergency medical condition is determined to exist, stabilize the patient for delivery or transfer to a higher level of care if needed. Perform labor assessment, evaluation, and care. Prepare the expectant mother for safe delivery. Administer medications including but not limited to: Pitocin, misoprostol, methergine, hemabate, magnesium sulfate, terbutaline, labetalol, nifedipine, hydralazine, and insulin. Provide immediate stabilization of newborns and administer newborn medications. Prepare for scheduled or emergency cesarean delivery. Assess and care for postpartum patients (both vaginal and cesarean deliveries) and newborn patients. Newborn care includes but is not limited to: hearing screening, assisting with laboratory draws, IV starts and care, medication administration (hepatitis B, vitamin K, erythromycin, antibiotics), assisting with circumcisions, care of opiate withdrawal newborns, stabilization of critically ill newborns for transport, phototherapy, and hypoglycemia care.
