Job Description Job Description Description: The Field
Technician – Environmental Services is a full-time hourly permanent
position located in Carlsbad, NM reporting to the Field Operations
Supervisor – Environmental Services. The Field Technician –
Environmental Services will accomplish a wide variety of client
needs including but not limited to: Assist with natural resource
surveys (wildlife, plant, karst, hydrology, etc.) Assist with
environmental compliance monitoring (trench monitoring, spill
monitoring, etc.) Collect environmental samples (water, soil,
biological) and record basic data Maintain accurate and complete
field records Support data organization and mapping under the
direction of senior staff Set up, operate, and maintain instruments
and equipment as directed Perform preventative maintenance on
tools, equipment, and vehicles under supervision Assist with
fabrication and troubleshooting of equipment and systems Transport
equipment and supplies using trucks and trailers as necessary Mix
and apply chemicals according to label instructions under
supervision Collaborate with team members to support project
efficiency Adhere to correct procedures and health and safety
policies Other duties as assigned Requirements: Minimum Job
Requirements: Required High school diploma or GED Ability to work
long hours in the field with potentially undesirable conditions
Ability to hike up to 5 miles a day Possession of a valid driver’s
license with a clean driving record Preferred A Bachelor’s degree
(B.A. or B.S.) in Environmental Science, Wildlife Science, Ecology,
Biology, Geology, or related fields Working knowledge of ArcGIS
Experience with plant and wildlife surveys Knowledge, Skills, and
Abilities: Required Ability to follow directives and field
protocols Competence in collecting environmental and biological
samples Ability to maintain accurate field records Basic computer
proficiency (Word, Excel, GPS data entry) Ability to work safely in
challenging field conditions Strong attention to detail Preferred
Working knowledge of ArcGIS Pro and GPS mapping tools Experience
with plant and wildlife surveys Familiarity with basic operation
and maintenance of field equipment and tools Interest in developing
technical skills Special Requirements: Able to lift and carry 50
lbs.
